Brick National Baseball League Dissolves

The December 31st 2009 edition of the Community Reporter has a front page story revealing the dissolution of the Brick National Baseball League. Some of its board members had resigned in October. The resignations coincided with public disclosures of a police investigation.

Brick Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis was quoted as saying:

As far as I am concerned, there is no organization. They don't even have the money to pay for their charter.

Registration for Challenger Basketball on Oct 5th

MMA Fighter Nick Catone

Mixed martial arts fighter Nick Catone, of Brick New Jersey, recently agreed to a four fight contract with the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), the flagship organization of mixed martial arts. Nick is a middle-weight with a record of 7-2. He recently lost a close fight by split decision to Mark Munoz at UFC 102. Nick is 28 years old and is considered to be a well rounded fighter.

Gearing Up for Another Hockey Season

On Saturday September 12th the Brick Hockey Club will host an opening extravaganza on Saturday, September 12th outside The Ocean Ice Palace. There will be continuous hockey inside from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM and from 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM the outside activities will be held. Activities include a Chinese Auction and a barbeque. There will be food, fun and a call for volunteers to help out.

Brick Township Soccer Association Fall Program

The Brick Township Soccer Association is gearing up for the Fall season. In person registrations took place in August and online registration is available. The association has different programs for children of different age groups. Discounts kick in when there is more than one child registered per household. A program commences of September 8th and runs for eight weeks. Further information can be obtained by calling John Pavlik at 732-920-1479.

Brick Bombers Tryout

The Brick Bombers is a girls fastpitch softball team which plays within the Brick Girls Fastpitch Softball League. They compete in tournaments within Ocean County and other counties in New Jersey.

The team is holding a tryout from 4:00 to 6:30 PM on August 30th at Brick High School, Chambersbridge Road in Brick. This tryout is for levels 14U and 16U.
