Brick Township Soccer Association Fall Program

The Brick Township Soccer Association is gearing up for the Fall season. In person registrations took place in August and online registration is available. The association has different programs for children of different age groups. Discounts kick in when there is more than one child registered per household. Brick Bombers Tryout

The Brick Bombers is a girls fastpitch softball team which plays within the Brick Girls Fastpitch Softball League. They compete in tournaments within Ocean County and other counties in New Jersey.

The team is holding a tryout from 4:00 to 6:30 PM on August 30th at Brick High School, Chambersbridge Road in Brick. This tryout is for levels 14U and 16U.

The Pilot House Restaurant

The Pilot House Restaurant, 799 Route 70, Brick, NJ has more to offer than a very scenic view of the water. The Pilot House offers a Sunday brunch buffet from 10:30 AM until 2:00 PM. Maritime History Fundraiser

The Museum of New Jersey Maritime History will hold a Fundraiser which takes place on Tuesday, September 8th. The theme is the Morro Castle Disaster. The event runs from 4:00 to 11:00 PM. Musical entertainment is provided by Sal Rosa & the Sound Doctors. Food is available and there will be wine tasting, a vintage car show, a Chinese auction and more. Tickets are $50.00 per person. Havens Cove

The Ocean County Natural Land Trust Fund has acquired a 35 acre tract of land in Brick Township known as Havens Cove. It is located along Havens Cove Road and Atlantic Drive and is adjacent to the Edwin B. Forsythe Refuge. The non-profit organization Save Barnegat Bay lent its support to the acquisition. Protecting and preserving water quality is a hoped for result. There was an intent to divide the land into nine residential lots.

Business After Hours at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club

The Brick Township Chamber of Commerce touts a coming event- Business After Hours- which will take place at the Eagle Ridge Golf Club, 515 Jack Martin Blvd. in Brick on Thursday August 27th between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. It is an opportunity to meet others in a relaxed setting. The cost for members is $10.00 ($15.00 for two) and $20.00 for those who are not members of the Chamber of Commerce.

A Hymnsing at St. Paul Methodist Church

A Hymnsing event will take place at St. Paul Methodist Church, Herbertsville Road, Brick, NJ on Sunday, August 23rd at 2:00 PM. Hymnsings occur at local area churches which take turns hosting the event. Information is available by calling 732-892-3644.

The Herbertsville First Aid Squad

The Herbertsville First Aid Squad, 375 Herbertsville Road, Brick, NJ 08724, (732) 840-9116, has served the local area since 1961. It is a volunteer first aid squad which provides free emergency medical services and transportation services for residents of Brick. No insurance billing either. This is quite a service in a day and age when ambulance bills can be exorbitant.

Volunteers must undergo training and this also costs money. Donations provide the funding needed to keep this worthy operation going. Checks made out to the Herbertsville First Aid Squad can be mailed to the above address. You would be investing in your own community.

SummerFest 2009 Schedule

Changes to the SummerFest 2009 Schedule have been made. There is a SummerFest Concert which is scheduled to occur on Monday, August 17th at 7:00 PM. It features The Infernos and Gerard Esposito. However, the food court opens at 5:00 PM. When the concert is over there will be fireworks.

There will be a drive-in movie on Thursday, August 27th. Gates open at at 7:00 PM and positioning is secured on a first come first served basis. It is free but refreshments are available for purchase. The featured movie is a top hit of 2009 and is called Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. Viewing of the movie will take place before it becomes available on DVD.

Civil War Display in August

Encampment of Civil War Soldiers to be Held appears in the Brick Times. According to the web page the 1st New York Voluntary Infantry Regiment will be at the Havens Homestead Museum, 521 Herbertsville Road, Brick, NJ on August 8th and 9th. They will be there all day on the eighth and until noon on the following day. The public is admitted without charge. The soldiers will attempt to show how camp life was during the Civil War.

During the two days the Havens Homestead Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for free tours.
